Salmon Unlimited is looking forward to hosting its 2nd annual Pro/Am tournament on August 23rd, 2008 at Northpoint Marina in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.

In addition to the cash prizes for the top finishers, we are once again offering a $1000 bonus prize for the biggest fish in both the Pro and Amateur divisions. There will also be many other tackle prizes and captain’s bags stuffed with goodies. Northpoint Marina is providing free slips to contestants, as well.

Registering is easy. You can register online (with a credit card) via Paypal by clicking on the appropriate button in the box below (Amateur or Pro). Or, if you prefer to submit your entry by mail, simply print the Rules and Registration Form below and mail it with your entry fee to the address on the form. There is a mandatory captain’s meeting on Friday, August 22nd, 2008 at 7:00pm at the Northpoint Marina administration building. We hope to see you there!

Last year we held our 1st annual Salmon Unlimited Pro/Am tournament on August 25th, 2007 at North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois. Proceeds from this tournament went to the Salmon Unlimited Conservation Trust, which helped finance the coho stocking for this year. The inaugural event drew 29 entries; 21 in the amateur division and 8 on the pro side. The weigh-in was held in the Skipper Bud’s dry storage facility. Each boat had their catch announced at the weigh-in, just like in the big bass tournaments. Once the points were totaled, the winners were interviewed, where they shared the secrets to their success.

In addition to the prize money for the top finishers, a $1000 bonus was paid for the largest fish in each division. Every boat also received a Captain’s bag, with lots of goodies inside, and a raffle prize that ranged from a $25 spoon pack up to a $500 Big Jon electric downrigger.
