Mark your calendars! Salmon Unlimited of Illinois will be holding its 3rd annual Pro/Am salmon fishing tournament on August 22nd, 2009 at Northpoint Marina in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois. This tournament is open to everyone; you do not need to be a member of Salmon Unlimited to enter. So come on out and help support our great salmon fishery. All proceeds go to the Salmon Unlimited Conservation Trust and help maintain the world-class angling opportunities we all enjoy.
As in previous years, 85% of the entry fees will be returned as prizes, with 15% going to help improve the Lake Michigan fishery. In addition to the cash prizes for the top finishers, we are once again offering a $1000 bonus prize for the biggest fish in each division. There will be many other tackle prizes and each boat will receive a captain’s bag filled with goodies, too.
Registering is easy. You can register online (with a credit card) by clicking on the appropriate button below (Amateur or Pro). Online registration is secured by PayPal and will include a nominal processing charge ($2.50 for Amateur and $5.00 for Pro). Online registration will be available from July 1st thru August 15th, 2009. You can also register by mail by printing the Rules and Registration Form and mailing it, along with your entry fee, to the address on the form. Please allow sufficient time for it to be delivered before August 15th, 2009. A mandatory captain’s meeting will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, August 21st, 2009 at the Northpoint Marina administration building. Late registration will be available at the captain’s meeting; however, a $20 late registration fee will apply.
Last year’s tournament drew a field of 53 entries; 13 in the Pro division and 40 on the Amateur side. The weigh-in was held in the Skipper Bud’s dry storage building. Once the spray settled and the points were totaled, the winners were: |
